Buxton is currently seeking a new sales professional to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory working directly with local governments and tourism organizations. The focus for this role will be on prospecting, qualifying and closing new accounts. The primary prospect targets will be economic development groups looking to attract retail expansion as well as tourism and convention visitors bureaus looking to grow their tourism base. The successful candidate will possess a hunter mentality, be assertive, and a self-starter who is consistently responsive and can make quick decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and exceed all sales and expectation quotas
  • Grow market share in designated accounts/territory
  • Own all stages of the sales process from prospecting to close
  • Maintain detailed sales and marketing records for all assigned accounts and uses them to plan, execute and evaluate sales calls
  • Deliver professional sales presentations
  • Attend sales meetings and participate in any efforts beyond standard working hours to help achieve company goals

This position will:

  • Require account prospecting and pipeline management
  • Require attendance of various industry trade shows
  • Require frequent travel (estimated 35-40%)

What you bring to the table:

  • Prior experience in B2B sales (2-3 years preferred)
  • Proven record of prospecting and cold calling experience with solution-based sales
  • Proven success in new business acquisition with a lengthy sales cycle
  • Experience using a CRM (such as Salesforce) as an effective sales tool
  • Knowledge/experience in economic development industry preferred
  • Knowledge/experience in working with or for a destination marketing or other tourism related organization preferred
  • Interest in local government and tourism industry required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of diverse clients
  • Must be highly organized and be able to work in an unsupervised environment
  • Must have the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively, while dealing with a variety of requests throughout the day
  • Superior research and follow-up skills
