Earlier this week I had the pleasure of visiting the health-conscious folks at Smoothie King down in Louisiana. I was there to meet with the EVP of Franchise Development, Richard Leveille, who is responsible for all real estate and franchise decisions for the QSR company.
It's always great to hear how a business is using analytics to understand more about their customers, as well as how they use our real estate and analytics platform, SCOUT.
A few takeaways I had during my interview with Richard include:
There are markets you know like the back of your hand, but for new markets identifying where your customers are is key. Once you have an idea where top-performing stores should locate, then put your boots on the ground for a more in-depth look.
Identifying the number of stores a market can hold is the key to not leaving money on the table by not fully saturating a market
Understand what your entire domestic U.S. potential footprint is. This can keep real estate goals and perspectives in mind.
Wow potential franchisees with a platform you're using to select sites. This lets a prospective franchise owner know that you are the expert in the room about site selection
