Buxton Shares Update on State of the Dallas-Fort Worth Market at Two Area Events

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (August 25, 2021) — Buxton thought leaders shared updates on the state of the market at two recent Dallas-Fort Worth area events. Senior Vice President Bill Stinneford provided opening remarks at Bisnow’s The Future of DFW Healthcare & Life Sciences event on August 10, while Senior Vice President Chris Briggs kicked off the discussion at Bisnow’s The Future of Tarrant County event on August 17.

As Stinneford shared, in-person visits to outpatient healthcare facilities in Dallas-Fort Worth have rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. The region leads the state with the strongest gains in visits from April 2021 to July 2021.

“High levels of consumer demand for in-person healthcare services bode well for the future of the industry in the Dallas-Fort Worth market,” remarked Stinneford. “However, brick-and-mortar expansion will need to be balanced with virtual care channels to create a true ‘omnichannel’ strategy.”

Tarrant County, home to many residents in the western half of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, continues to see strong population growth, noted Briggs. However, compared to pre-pandemic levels, visitor traffic to one of the county’s premier entertainment districts has been slow to recover. Consumer visits to the City of Arlington’s entertainment district, which is home to multiple professional sports teams and amusement parks, are at 59% of 2019 levels.

“The impact of changing consumer behavior in response to the pandemic varies across industries,” Briggs noted. “The entertainment industry continues to feel the effects of the pandemic. We do expect visitation volumes to reach and even exceed previous benchmarks once the lingering impacts of the pandemic are under control.”
