FORT WORTH, TEXAS, (January 27, 2015) — The Village of Grayslake, Illinois today announced that it has entered into a partnership with Buxton to study the retail potential in the Village’s trade area. Grayslake will use Buxton’s advanced customer analytics to support both retail recruitment and business retention.
While retail economic development programs have traditionally relied on basic demographic information, Grayslake will utilize customer insights that go beyond demographics to present a convincing case to retailers seeking growth opportunities. Buxton’s proprietary web-based real estate platform SCOUT® will give local leaders the ability to analyze retail matches and support development decisions.
“Retail development plays an important role in both adding to the commercial tax base and enhancing the quality of life for residents,” said Kevin Timony, assistant to the village manager for the Village of Grayslake. “We look forward to working with Buxton to attract new businesses to our community.”
“In today’s competitive retail recruitment climate, analytics are a tremendous tool in proving development potential,” said Lisa McCay, vice president in Buxton’s public sector division. “Buxton is pleased to support Grayslake’s economic development efforts.”
Buxton has worked with more than 650 cities nationwide to implement retail development strategies. Client cities in Illinois include Bloomington, Machesney Park and Peotone.
