Buxton Partners with Montgomery to Use Analytics and Data to Drive Private Development in Underserved Business Corridors

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Oct. 22, 2019) — Buxton, the leader in customer analytics, has partnered with Montgomery, Ala., an internationally recognized Smart City, to support the city’s retail development initiatives. Montgomery will harness Buxton’s analytics to pinpoint the most promising retailers for underserved areas in the community and design targeted retail recruitment strategies.

“Our City Council under the leadership of Councilmen William Green and Charles Jinright have prioritized finding innovative ways to connect retail to rooftops in some of our community’s most underserved neighborhoods,” Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange said. “Buxton’s comprehensive analytics will provide a study identifying the best brands for targeted areas to support our team’s efforts while letting the world know all of Montgomery is open for business.”

“Our city has many retail corridors with high growth in development; however, there are other areas that lag behind in recruitment,” said Mac McLeod, chief of staff at the City of Montgomery, Ala. “We are excited to work closely with Buxton, thanks in large part to Councilman William Green’s diligent research, to put in place a plan focused on bringing more businesses to these underdeveloped markets.”

In addition to an analysis of the most promising retailers, this partnership will provide the city access to lifestyle and consumer behavioral characteristics for the trade market area to inform approaches for new and existing retail efforts.

“Buxton is excited to work with proactive community leaders in Montgomery and develop a strategic retail attraction program,” said Ben Hicks, director of sales for Buxton. “The local leaders recognize that focusing on quality retailers and filling empty storefronts is a smart way to support an area that has traditionally struggled to find suitable retail.”
